Mission Statement: Our purpose is to support and encourage the faculty and staff of Leland Christian Academy; to fundraise in order to make necessary purchases for the school, thereby creating a more effective environment for teaching and learning; and to provide the manpower for special events throughout the year.

WHO ARE WE???

The PTU is an auxiliary group formed to support LCA through personal commitment, participation, and funding in accordance with the Christian philosophy of LCA.

WHAT DO WE DO???

The PTU strives to build a sense of community among all members in its area of influence. The PTU generates funds through various fundraisers during the school year. Last year, we had big success with our Spring Auction. We participate in the sale of the Attractions coupon books, assist with the Scholastic Book Fair, and have regularly scheduled fundraiser dinners at Andy’s Burgers (next to Wal-Mart in Leland). A favorite event for everyone is the Grandparent’s Lunch, which is held during the Scholastic Book Fair.

The funds generated by the PTU financially aid all areas of the school. Some of the recent purchases by the PTU for the school are: Two (2) laptop projectors for use in the classrooms; a compact disc player and recorders for the music program, and we provided monetary assistance for the purchase of a new telephone system for the school.

We were a silver sponsor of the Heron 5K Run at Waterford in the fall, which benefitted Hope Harbor House, a local domestic violence shelter.

HOW CAN WE HELP???

PTU meetings are open to every teacher, parent and staff member of LCA. The meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of every month (subject to change) at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Leland.
